For loved ones of patients seeking a living kidney donor
You want to help.
We'll show you how.
Watching someone you love wait for a kidney is incredibly difficult.
You're already carrying so much — the worry, the uncertainty, the wish that you could do more. The good news is there's something real and meaningful you can do. And we've made it as easy as possible.
We see you
Being an advocate for someone you love is hard work.
You're navigating your own fear while trying to stay strong for them. The last thing you need is another complicated ask.
That's why we built this system for people exactly like you. You don't need to pressure anyone. You don't need to have all the answers. You just need to be willing to invite people to learn — and we'll put everything you need in your hands.
Two ways you can help right now
You don't have to wait. You can start today.
01
Become their champion
A Champion is the single most important role in our program — and it's one you can step into today. As a Champion, your job is simply to invite your loved one's network to attend a free Kidney Convo.
We make it as easy as possible. We'll send you conversation scripts, email templates, and social media assets — everything you need to reach out confidently.
Reaching out on your loved one's behalf can be easier than asking them to do it themselves. They're focused on their health — you can focus on building the audience their story deserves.
You don't need to ask anyone to donate. You just need to say:
come learn with us.
02
Help them enroll in our outreach program
When your loved one enrolls with Next Step Next One, we take on the outreach entirely — in two ways.
If they're part of a faith community, we reach out to their church or faith organization directly, providing materials and an RSVP link for them to share with their congregation. Your loved one can choose to be named or remain anonymous.
If there are specific people they'd like us to reach, simply provide us with their email addresses and we'll send each person a personal invitation to an upcoming Kidney Convo on your loved one's behalf — no awkward conversations required.
Sometimes the hardest part is just sitting down to fill out the form. You can do that together in less than 10 minutes — and we handle everything from there.
What you'll be inviting people to
A Kidney Convo — free, virtual, and completely pressure-free.
The people you invite don't need to speak, show their face, or make any decisions. They just come to learn — and real stories do the rest.
What people are saying
Don't take our word for it.
"Unlike a medical lecture, The Kidney Convo is a casual, open conversation where recipients and donors share their personal experiences — making living kidney donation feel real and approachable. It's designed for everyday people, not medical professionals, creating a safe space for questions and honest dialogue. A living donor coordinator is also present to answer any medical questions that come up along the way."
Sonja, Living Donor Coordinator, UCHealth
“I knew nothing about living kidney donation before attending a Kidney Convo. The patient stories brought me to tears. The donor stories reminded me of the very best in us — ordinary people making extraordinary choices. In just 90 minutes, every question was answered with no pressure — leaving me with a desire to share what I learned with others.”
Diane Mulligan, President & Founder M&C Communications
"As a living kidney donor and advocate for five years, speaking at A Kidney Convo in Denver was the most interactive, informative, and inspiring advocacy experience I've ever been part of. What made it exceptional was the genuine connection between patients, donors, caregivers, and community advocates — all coming together to learn from one another in a space where every voice mattered. A Kidney Convo is more than an event — it's a movement."
